The All New Iceman Series for 2015-16

The Iceman Series is back and we do have some exciting changes.  We have an all new series ending with The Iceman Half Marathon on Feb. 6th!
This year we have 4 Points Series Runs: 2 in December and 2 in January and on February 6th we will host The Iceman Half-Marathon.   Location and route will be announced as soon as possible.  It most likely will be on one of the trails and will be an out and back race.  I'm leaning to starting and ending at Engrained Brewery or Public House 29 as both of those locations are on or near one of the longer trails and will allow us to keep runners safe and away from traffic for 13.1 miles.
The Iceman Half Marathon:  As in any other road race we will have top finisher awards to the top three men and women finishers in each age group as well as the top 3 overall male and female finishers.  If the registrations are under 100 participants the age groups will be in 10 year increments starting at age 20. Every participant will earn a finishers medal (we are working on a cool design - the above design is not the final look).
Here's our schedule 2015 - 2016  - Events start about 9 am and will be a group start with a chipped timed finish.
Saturday December 12th - 10K (6.2 miles) point series run and a 3m run/walk

Saturday December 26th - 12K (7.46 miles) point series run and a 4m run/walk (burn off the extra holiday calories!)

Saturday January 9th- 15K (9.32 miles) point series run and a 5m run/walk

Saturday January 23rd - 18K (11.18 miles) point series final run and a 6m run/walk

Saturday February 6th - The Iceman Half-Marathon
As in prior years every preregistered participant for the Point Series Runs will receive a participation custom mug to commemorate that event and a $5 coupon for food and drinks at the restaurant bar. Mugs for race day registration can not be guaranteed.
Everyone that preregisters for the The Iceman Half-Marathon will receive:
  • a cool finishers medal
  • a long sleeve Tshirt
  • and all registrants will receive a food coupon and complimentary beer coupons for the restaurant/bar.

2014-15 IceMan Series finishes on a bright sunny day in Rochester

The Final Run of the IceMan Series. 26 runners took the 18K challenge running the full length of Lost Bridge Trail twice.
Public House 29 was a great place to hold the last race.  Great food, drink and atmosphere.

I congratulate all the 2014-15 runners who took on one or more of the Iceman runs.  We had a real mix of weather this year but sadly we had little snow or icy runs.  Maybe next year we can have that experience :-)

The Point Series Award Winners are highlighted in yellow in the report below.  We had one tie in the Women's 35-39 bracket which was broken by giving the win to the participant who participated in the events whose mileage was longer.

Our venues this year were:
Corner Pub and Grill, Engrained Brewery, Boone's Salon, Lime Street Cafe, Public House 29.
The distance in all 5 events were: 7k, 9k, 12k, 15k and 18k.  Total: 61km or 37.9 miles

To all the IceMan Runnners I say, "Thank you!"

A special thanks to Barbara Manson, Kimee Armour, Emily Bernardes and Kert McAfee for their help throughout the events.

Hope to see you next year!
Bill

The Final Run: IceMan Series 5 - 18k or a 10k

The final run of the 2014/2015 Iceman Series starts and ends at the newest restaurant / bar in Rochester, Illinois call "Public House 29".  It is located at 312 Sattley Street, Rochester, IL which is behind the St. John's Health Center on the south side of Route 29 and next to the east leg of the Lost Bridge Trail.  This gives us the opportunity to have most of the route on the trail.  I'll check out the trail later this week and make sure it will be "runable' by Saturday.  If not there are plenty of safe roads for running in that area.  Weather forecast looks real good too.

As usual the race will start at 9am at the restaurant.  Public House 29 will be ready for you when you get back from your run.  The owner is excited to have us and I hear great things about the food.  Here's a link to their menu.

At the end of this run we'll be awarding plaques to the winners of the points series as well as a lots of door prizes.  Everyone will receive a participation mug commemorating the Series 5 event and a $5 coupon towards food and drink.

Also remember this is your last chance to order a shirt or sweatshirt for this year. You have to let me know by email if you want one and then you can pick it up on Saturday.

I'll post the route later this week.

See you Saturday!

Great Weather for Series 4 Iceman - 15K (9.35 miles)
Lime Street Cafe was great place to start and finish.  The food was great and the staff was most appreciative of our business.  Weather was perfect for the distance.

Series 3 - 12K / 6K Event - Results

The coldest Iceman yet letting these runners truly call themselves an Iceman!
Having a cloudless sky helped the temperature rise 5 degrees during the run!  Everyone returned safely and many stayed and enjoyed one of the great breakfast choices at Boones!

Here are the results and the Points Series placements:
