Bill Stokes and Weekend Warrior Productions is proud to offer an exciting new winter running series called the IceMan Series. You'll be able to keep your running tuned up this winter and have fun as well.
All the runs will have a post event party at a local restaurant/bar so we can continue the fun. Locations are still being organized and will be announced the week before the run. Where possible we will start and finish at the restaurant/bar. We reserve the right to change the location at any time based on the number of registrations.
Starting with a 7K run December 14th and every two weeks after that we will organize a Saturday morning point series run that progressively builds up to a 20K on Feb 8th. This idea has been done successfully in other cities like St. Louis and now we are bringing it to Springfield. Here's our schedule - all events start at 9am and will be chipped timed.
- Saturday December 14th - 7K (4.35 miles) point series run and a non-point 1.5 mile run/walk ( Location is booked at the Corner Pub at Iles and Koke Mill)
- Saturday December 28th - 9K (5.6 miles) point series run and a non-point 2.5 mile run/walk ( Location is booked at Long Bridge Golf Course / Clubhouse)
- Saturday January 11th - 12K (7.46 miles) point series run and a non-point 5K run/walk (Location is booked at The Office on Iles)
- Saturday January 25th - 15K (9.32 miles) point series run and a non-point 5 mile run/walk
- Saturday February 8th - 20K (12.43 miles) point series run and a non-point 10K run/walk
You can register for one or all of the runs. Every preregistered participant will receive a custom design coffee mug to commemorate that event and there will be 5 separate coffee mugs to collect. There is a winter running shirt option at an extra charge. Mugs for race day registration can not be guaranteed.
Registration fee is $70 for the entire series. $15 for an individual point series event and $20 for race day registration (cash or check only on race day). Click here to register.
At each event the top 3 finishers in each age group will receive a ribbon. Age groups are every 5 years starting at age 20.
Point Series winners must participate in at least 3 events. Your points from your best 4 finishes will be used to calculate the point series awards. Points are earned according to your finish in your age bracket. Your age on Dec 14th will be your age for the entire series. All runners earn 5 points for participating and big points are earned on the following schedule based on your place in your age bracket:
- 1st - 50 points;
- 2nd - 45 points;
- 3rd - 40 points;
- 4th - 35 points;
- 5th - 30 points;
- 6th - 25 points;
- 7th - 20 points;
- 8th - 15 points;
- 9th - 10 points.
Registration and more information will be posted here as we get closer to the date.
